Postion Summary

Tougaloo College, a historically black college, invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Biology to begin in January 2024.

Duties

The candidate is expected to teach Biology courses (lectures and laboratories) offered by the department, including, but not limited to, General Biology, Evolution, Ecology, and Environmental Science. The candidate will be expected to provide academic advising and mentoring to undergraduate students. Other responsibilities include participation in departmental and divisional activities and service to the College and

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Doctoral degree in Biology with expertise in Evolutionary Biology, Environmental Science, or a closely related biology field. Preferred Qualifications: Teaching, mentoring, and advising experience of underrepresented minority undergraduates and a strong interest in developing biomedical research projects. Postdoctoral research experience is preferred. Start-up funds, release time, and research support will be available in the fall of 2024 from Mississippi INBRE, which supports a network of Mississippi colleges and universities dedicated to improving biomedical research and infrastructure in the state.
