Emergency Financial Aid Grants to Students
Tougaloo College has established an emergency financial aid grant to assist students whose lives have been disrupted, many of whom are facing significant financial challenges because of the recent COVID-19 pandemic. The disbursement was arranged through federal funds provided under Section 1800(a)(1) of the CARES Act. The CARES Act, which establishes and provides funding from the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF), has enabled institutions of higher education to utilize much needed funds to provide direct assistance to cover expenses related to the disruption of campus operations due to COVID-19, including eligible expenses under a student’s cost of attendance, such as food, housing, course materials, technology, childcare and healthcare.
Tougaloo College also acknowledges the execution of the Department of Education’s CARES Act Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund Certification and Agreement. We commit that no less than 50% of the funds will be utilized to provide emergency financial aid grants to students.
