Tougaloo College President Dr. Carmen J. Walters is named among Mississippi’s Most Influential African Americans in 2022.

Each year an independent panel of business and community leaders selects outstanding individuals who have made significant contributions from different fields and categories. With the dozens of nominations received by Our Mississippi, only a select few will be part of the list.

Tougaloo, MS — Tougaloo College has been ranked No. 3 among the 2022-2023 Top Performers on Social Mobility and No. 12 in Historically Black Colleges and Universities by the U.S. News & World Report. Now in its 38th year, the rankings evaluate more than 1,450 colleges and universities on up to 17 measures of academic quality.

Tougaloo, Miss –The U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC) is the premier research and development center for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) in Vicksburg, MS. Their main purpose is to discover, develop, and deliver innovative solutions to the nation's toughest challenges in military engineering, installations, and operational environments. They focus on civil works, geospatial research and engineering, as well as engineered resilient systems.
