Tougaloo College Pledges to Prepare Future Educators with Tech Skills to Thrive in Digital Learning Environments

 
Tougaloo, MS — Tougaloo College announces that it has signed the EPPs for Digital Equity and Transformation Pledge, committing to prepare educators with the skills to successfully use technology for learning in face-to-face, hybrid, and online classrooms.

Congratulations Rev. Reginald M. Buckley

Tougaloo Alum, Rev. Reginald M. Buckley currently serves as the executive pastor of Cade Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Jackson, MS. He was elected and will dually serve the seat of President of General Missionary Baptist State Convention of Mississippi, Inc.

Rev. Buckley is a W.K. Kellogg Fellow and member of the inaugural class of the Mississippi Black Leadership Institute. His service and commitment to community development, social justice, and equity are evident in his willingness to confront the social issues facing the community around us and nationally.

Tougaloo College and Jackson State University recieved funding from United States Congressman

TOUGALOO, MS – Today the two Historically Black College and University (HBCU) Presidents, Dr. Carmen J. Walters of Tougaloo and Thomas K. Hudson of Jackson State University (JSU) stood alongside United States Congressman of the 2nd District, Bennie G. Thompson in the Bankplus Atrium of the College of Business on the Campus of JSU. Congressman Thompson presented Tougaloo a check for $1,000,000.00 for the Reuben V. Anderson Institute for Social Justice. The funding comes from the 2021 Community Projects Special Appropriations for HBCUs.

Learning from the Past: Tougaloo College Institute Partners with MS Center for Investigative Reporting

TOUGALOO, MS - The Tougaloo College Institute for the Study of Modern Day Slavery (ISMDS) and the Mississippi Center for Investigative Reporting (MCIR) have established a collaboration based on student/faculty mentorships to research "cold cases". The cases involved crimes against minorities that were not sufficiently investigated or resolved leaving innocent people—mainly minorities—arrested and convicted of serious crimes.
