TOUGALOO, MS - The Tougaloo College Institute for the Study of Modern Day Slavery (ISMDS) and the Mississippi Center for Investigative Reporting (MCIR) have established a collaboration based on student/faculty mentorships to research "cold cases". The cases involved crimes against minorities that were not sufficiently investigated or resolved leaving innocent people—mainly minorities—arrested and convicted of serious crimes.

$10 million gift from Reed Hastings, Patty Quillin to bolster 58-year-old Brown-Tougaloo Partnership
The generous gift from Netflix CEO Reed Hastings and producer Patty Quillin will provide much-needed financial support to students from Tougaloo College, an HBCU in Mississippi, including many who come to Brown.
Tougaloo, Miss. – Effective February 1st, Dr. Daphne Chamberlain has been appointed Vice President for Strategic Initiatives and Social Justice.
Tougaloo's very own alumna and trustee, Shirlethia Franklin, has been slated for admittance to partnership in the global law firm Jones Day.
Franklins career includes work as a former senior U.S. Department of Justice official, litigating civil cases involving the federal government. She was a member of the 2013 - 2014 Class of White House Fellows for leadership and public service and previously served on the board of directors for the White House Fellows Foundation and Association.
