New Student Orientation is your official introduction to campus life, college resources, and the community of scholars, artists, and leaders you are joining. Whether you are an incoming freshman, transfer, or readmitted student, orientation gives you everything you need to start strong.

Orientation is August 5–9, 2026. Attendance is required for all new and transfer students. Registration deadline is July 20, 2026.

What to Expect

Five days of purposeful experiences designed to help you transition into college life and soar as part of Eagle Nation.

Move-In & Welcome

Day 1 begins with Residence Hall Move-In, a Parent & Family Workshop, and an evening Welcome Reception where you'll meet your Student Orientation Leaders.

Registration Day

Complete all administrative enrollment steps in one place — Admissions, Registrar, Bursar, Financial Aid, IT, Health & Wellness, and more. Plus a guided campus tour.

Academic Success

Meet the Executive Cabinet, your academic advisor, and student success team. Attend workshops on degree planning, The Loo portal, Canvas, and academic integrity.

Campus Life & Engagement

Meet your Enrollment Management team, Student Government, Royal Court, and Tougaloo Ambassadors. Attend a Financial Literacy session and learn about campus organizations.

Safety & Support

Mental health workshops, Title IX overview, Student Code of Conduct, Campus Police & Safety, and Residential Life — everything you need to stay safe and supported.

Eagle Pride & Worship

Sunday Worship Services at Woodworth Chapel, followed by the Eagle Pride Pep Rally hosted by Athletics and the Royal Court in the Kroger Gymnasium.

Common questions from incoming students about orientation week.

Is orientation required?

Yes. Orientation is required for all incoming freshmen, transfer, and readmitted students. Attendance ensures you complete key enrollment steps and gain access to campus services before the semester begins.

When is the registration deadline?

The registration deadline is July 20, 2026. Please complete your orientation registration before this date. Contact admissions@tougaloo.edu or call (601) 977-7772 with questions.

Do I need to attend all five days?

Yes. The full orientation program runs August 5–9. Plan to be present for the entire week. Review the schedule above for daily times and locations.

Can I move into housing during orientation?

Yes. Residence Hall Move-In is scheduled for Wednesday, August 5 from 8:00 AM – 2:00 PM. Scan the QR code on the Housing flyer in the Resources section to apply for housing through your Loo Account.

What should I bring to orientation?

Bring your student ID or valid photo ID, registration confirmation, insurance information, and any required enrollment documents. Download the Bulldog Packing List from the Resources section for a full checklist.

Will my family be able to attend?

Yes! A Parent & Family Workshop is scheduled on Day 1, Wednesday August 5 from 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM in Sherrod Auditorium.
