Registration Process & Requirements
Follow these essential steps and requirements to successfully complete your course registration for the upcoming semester.
New Student Information
New Student Requirement
All new students must confirm attendance with the Office of Admissions prior to proceeding with course selection and registration.
Important Steps for New Students:
- Students should meet with an advisor for advising and early course selection
- Students who are new or are undecided about a major should contact the Student Success Office at 601-977-6182
- Students who are unable to contact their advisor, do not know their advisor or who have not been assigned an advisor must contact their major Department Chair
Major Declaration/Change Form
Required Documentation:
- All students must have a Major Declaration Form on file in the Office of the Registrar
- All first year students will declare a major in their Student Success class
- Students whose major is incorrect on their "Loo" Account or desire to change their major must complete the form on the Loo (student portal)
Course Selection Procedures
Required Steps:
- See advisor for advising and course selection approval
- Overload (19 hours or above) must complete the form on the Loo (student portal). (Overload options not available to new students)
Important Note
Students must meet with their academic advisor before proceeding with course registration to ensure proper course selection and academic planning.
Financial Aid Requirements
Award Letter Information:
Students entering during the fall semester will receive a Financial Aid Award Letter for both semesters (fall and spring) once all required financial aid documents have been submitted.
No Award Letter?
Students without a Financial Aid Award Letter must contact a Financial Aid representative immediately.
Online Registration Process
Step-by-Step Registration:
- Log in to "The Loo" using your assigned Username and Password
- Click on the Student Tab
- Select Online Registration (on the left)
- Select Student Schedule
- Change Term to current term (example: Fall 2024-2025, Spring 2024-2025)
- Select Add/Drop Courses (on the left)
- Complete the Personal Information Update Form
- Submit
- CONGRATULATIONS! YOU ARE REGISTERED!
ID Card Services
Required for All Students: All students must have a valid Tougaloo College ID card.
ID Processing Hours:
- Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday (unless otherwise indicated, e.g., holidays)
- 10:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m.
- 2:30 p.m.–3:30 p.m.
Appointment Required
To request an appointment, please allow 24 hours to receive a response. You will receive an email with your appointment details.
Vehicle Registration
Required for Vehicle Owners: Students with an automobile must register the vehicle and purchase a Tougaloo College auto decal from Campus Security.
