A Platform for Change
During the Civil Rights era, the Chapel welcomed leading voices and allies. Notable speakers and guests included Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Robert F. Kennedy, and Fannie Lou Hamer—among many others—making the Chapel a symbol of courage and conscience.

Architecture, Organ & Restoration
Woodworth Chapel is a rare example of Queen Anne architecture adapted for a religious building, celebrated for its warm acoustics and handcrafted interior. Its 1902 Murray Harris pipe organ enriches worship, concerts, and major ceremonies. After decades of service, the Chapel underwent a comprehensive restoration from 1999–2002 and was rededicated in 2003, earning recognition from preservation and architecture organizations.
