Tougaloo, Miss., April 7, 2021 - Tougaloo College is pleased to announce a $50,000.00 gift to support improvements to campus facilities. The generous gift was given by alumna Joan Trumpauer Mulholland '64 and the Joan Trumpauer Mulholland Foundation.

This year, the Office of Facilities Management has overseen several major campus improvement initiatives. Among those were renovations to A.A. Branch Hall and Renner Hall Residence Halls. “This is an amazing gift for the Tougaloo College Facilities Fund. This generous gift opens up new possibilities for our ongoing campus improvement efforts,” said Sandra L. Hodge, vice president for institutional advancement. “Our commitment to improving facilities and campus aesthetics serves as the backdrop to complement a Tougaloo education for our students.”

“Tougaloo is profoundly grateful for this spectacularly generous gift from Ms. Mulholland and her Foundation. This donation will provide funding to enhance our students’ living environment, which will positively impact and enrich their learning experience,” said Carmen J. Walters, Ph.D., President of Tougaloo College. “Support such as this enables us to further the College’s mission of educating and preparing leaders to become self-directed learners capable of challenging themselves and making contributions to society.”

“Tougaloo College holds a special place in my heart. I am forever grateful for the experiences and the friendships that I gained as a student at Tougaloo College. This is more than an opportunity to give back; this is a chance to continue towards equity and equality in the United States,” said Joan Mulholland.
