Tougaloo College is thrilled to announce its hosting of the highly anticipated 2024 JXN FILM FESTIVAL™ taking place from July 21-26, 2024! This week-long event is produced by alumni Maximus Wright, Founder and Executive Director; Candice Love Jackson, Director of Education and Festival Director; and Esther Young, Director of Finance & Administration and Festival Gala Director. The festival promises an extraordinary lineup of events that honor the rich legacy of film and television.

The 2024 edition is particularly special as it commemorates the 50th anniversary of the iconic television show “Good Times” and the influential work of Norman Lear. Attendees can look forward to various activities, including exclusive screenings, workshops, masterclasses, and star-studded receptions.

Maximus Wright, Founder and Executive Director of the JXN FILM FESTIVAL™ reflects on the festival’s significance: “Excellence is a habit. This statement embodies the spirit and practice of our daily work—a spirit and practice that were honed in the hallowed classrooms of Tougaloo College. To host the festival at Tougaloo College makes sense to us.”

The festival is organized by Soarpreneur, a nonprofit founded by Maximus Wright in 2018, which is dedicated to fostering creativity and entrepreneurship in the entertainment industry. The decision to bring the festival back to Tougaloo College was unanimously made following a successful entertainment industry recruitment tour in October 2023.
