A Message from our FBI Partners

The Jackson Division of the Federal Bureau of Investigation is planning to conduct a Citizens Academy at the Jackson Field Office tentatively beginning late September 2022 and running thru October 2022. Attendees must be self-nominated or nominated by someone else. Nominations are due by close of business on Friday, September 9th.

The Citizens Academy will meet in person at the Field Office in Jackson, MS, one afternoon/evening each week for a 6-week period. COVID restrictions may be implemented for all meetings of the Citizens Academy, if necessary. Selected nominees will be able to opt out if uncomfortable with meeting in person.

If you have someone in mind (in the state of Mississippi and willing to travel to Jackson) that would be a good candidate for the Citizens Academy, please nominate them. You may also complete the nomination form for yourself. The class size will be limited to approximately 15-20 participants.

Nominees must meet the following criteria:

A recognized business, religious, or community leader
Live and/or work within the field office's jurisdiction
Minimum age 21 years old
Must consent to a limited background check
Agree to attend all sessions with no more than two (2) excused absences
To nominate someone, fill out the attached nomination form. Any additional information about the candidate is helpful (e.g. volunteer efforts, civic groups, work experience, etc.). Selection for the Citizens Academy is often highly competitive, so include as much information about the candidate as possible.

In order for your candidate to be considered, you must fill out the attached form. Final determination of nominees selected to attend will be made by Executive Management

Nominations are due by close of business on Friday, September 9th, 2022. Nominations can be sent directly to Katie Greenleaf at jacksonfbi.outreach@fbi.gov. The nomination form is attached to this email.
