A Century of Service and Adaptation

For over 100 years, Jamerson Hall has been a cornerstone of campus life, evolving from faculty housing to classroom space to dormitory, and finally to its current role as a student services hub.

From Faculty Housing to Student Services

Originally constructed in 1918 to house single, female teachers, Jamerson Hall served as a welcoming residence for the women who helped shape Tougaloo's early academic success.

As the college grew and evolved, so did Jamerson Hall's purpose. The building was transformed to serve as classroom space, providing essential academic facilities during periods of campus expansion. Later, it was converted into dormitory housing, accommodating students as enrollment increased throughout the mid-20th century.

The major remodeling in 1957 marked a significant milestone, updating the structure with modern amenities while preserving its historic character. Today, Jamerson Hall's current role housing Enrollment Management& Student Services demonstrateing Tougaloo's commitment to adaptive reuse and student success.
