Tougaloo College and Millsaps College jointly hosted the 2021 annual MLK Day Celebration Ceremony. The event, titled “Speaking the Truth & Seeking Justice: Celebrating the Life & Legacy of Rev Dr Martin Luther King Jr,” was hosted virtually this year. In addition to sentiments from each institution’s president, the event featured words from Tougaloo Student Government Association President A’Mon Haynes and Millsaps Student Body Association Vice President Malik Marshall.
The event’s keynote speaker was investigative reporter Jerry Mitchell, founder of Mississippi Center for Investigative Reporting. His journalistic work has helped lead to convictions of Klansmen and perpetrators of corruption.
