Summer Physics Program

  • If you are a rising junior/senior or graduating senior in High School and you are looking for an enriching academic experience in summer -Or, if you plan to take a Physics course next semester but you would like to explore it first in a friendly summer camp atmosphere, we offer you an exciting opportunity:

    Tougaloo College offers a Pre-Engineering Physics & Astronomy Summer Program for you.

Basic Informations of the Program:

  • The program is FREE for all students and will be funded by HBCU-UP/NSF & HHMI/NIH.
  • The academic program will cover the following topics: i) Introduction to Physics, Applications of Physics, and Research in Physics; ii) Classical Mechanics, iii) Atomic Molecular and Thermal Physics; iv) Electricity & Magnetism, v) Optics and Introduction to Astronomy and Astrophysics, and vi) Electronics.
  • Students will be provided with light breakfast (8:30-9am), lunch (12-1pm), and afternoon snacks (2:15-2:30pm). If you need on campus housing please specify in the registration form provided in the link below.
  • The program will include an educational tour to LIGO or NASA Stennis Space Center and a visit to a state university campus.
  • Rising junior/senior or graduating senior in High School with a GPA of 2.75 or higher can apply.
