REQUIREMENTS

  • PARTICIPATE IN PRE-NOYCE PROGRAM
  • 3.0 GPA
  • NSD MAJOR
  • U.S. Citizen
  • Full-time Tougaloo Student in good standing
  • MINIMUM PRAXIS I (PPST) EXAM SCORES (MATH 172, READING 172, WRITING 173) OR EXEMPT WITH PROOF OF SAT COMPOSITE SCORE OF 860 AND HIGHER (VERBAL AND QUANTITATIVE) OR ACT COMPOSITE SCORE OF 21 AND ABOVE, NO SUBTEST SCORE BELOW 18
  • PROVIDE 2 LETTERS OF RECOMMENDATION
  • ESSAY ON STEM EDUCATION
  • APPLICANT INTERVIEW

Recipient must agree to two years of service for every year benefits and stipends are received. Service will be in Mississippi High Need School.

ROBERT NOYCE SCHOLARS PROGRAM?

The Robert Noyce Scholarship Program is for students interested in becoming an educator in science, mathematics or computer science field. Financial and academic support is available for students who are juniors or seniors in the Natural Sciences Division who would like to earn a teaching license in one of the following areas:

  • Biology
  • Mathematics
  • Chemistry
  • Physics

BENEFITS/STIPENDS FOR STUDENTS

  • $11,400 scholarship awarded during junior and senior years
  • $3,600 summer stipend during junior and senior years for attending ten week summer programs
  • Attend specialized professional association conferences and annual meetings during junior and senior years
  • $2,000 stipend for first year of teaching
  • Ongoing workshops, mentoring, professional development
  • Including membership in specialized professional associations
