In order to take an online course from Tougaloo College, you must be admitted to the College.

Each prospective student who files an application is considered for admission. Applicants must submit :
- Evidence of high school completion.
- Evidence of 2.00 high school cumulative grade point average.
- Evidence of the completion of the required units.
- $25.00 application fee.

Transfer students must submit an official copy of the transcript from each college or university attended. In order to get an official transcript, please contact each college attended and request the college to send the transcript to Tougaloo College.

To complete coursework in a distance learning environment through Tougaloo College, you will need sufficient technology and Internet access. Please note that a 56K modem is the minimum requirement and will cause lag and may also interfere with audio clarity when viewing video streaming online. It is the student's responsibility to contact Tougaloo College prior to enrollment to determine if the distance learning class you are taking has a video streaming component. The following list will help verify that you are adequately equipped:
- Windows 98, 2000, XP or Vista; Macintosh OS 9 or better
- Microsoft Office 2000, XP, 2003 or 2007 – any version that includes the following: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access
- 850MHz (or comparable processor) or better
- 128 MB of RAM min. (256MB RAM or higher recommended)
- 56K modem or better for dial-up Internet (optional if using High-Speed Internet), high-speed connection preferred
- CD-ROM
- Video: 32MB Video Card
- Sound card and compatible speakers and microphone
- Internet Service Provider (ISP) account for Internet access and a university e-mail address.
