King Jamal Walker Perkins

Jamal Walker Perkins is the proud son of Attorney Representative Willie and Sheriel F. Perkins. He was born February 13, 1991 in Greenwood, MS, where he was raised. He is the youngest of all of his siblings, Ashaki Osborne, Willie James Perkins Jr., MPH, Attorney Takiyah Perkins, and Jamilah Perkins. While in high school, Jamal was all ready preparing to become a leader. He was head drum major for the Greenwood High School band, winner of the Roy Martin Band Award, member of the Mayor’s Youth Council, and Mr. Greenwood High School 2008-2009. Even with all his involvement, he was still a scholar, graduating salutatorian of his high school class.

After being successful in high school, he decided to join the elite group of many of his family members, including both his parents and all his siblings, in becoming a Tougaloo College Eaglet, where he is now a Senior Mathematics major. Even with this transition, Jamal still continued to be involved, becoming a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated, a Jackson Heart Study Scholar, an Alpha Lambda Delta Scholar, a Kincheloe tutor, a member of the Tougaloo College tennis team, as well as maintaining many other affiliations. He was awarded a partial scholarship, HBCU-UP scholarship, Tom Joyner Hercules Scholarship, and a tennis scholarship.

After Jamal graduates from Tougaloo, he plans to continue his fight to reach success by taking an ambitious step into the business world. He wants own a recording label and branch into other fields of business. He has interest in pursuing writing, music, law, and public health. At the end of his life, he wants to be able to look back and say he was a motivator, both on a National and International stage. He lives by the saying, “My desire to live is greater than my fear of dying.”

Queen Destiny Charmayne Kyles

Destiny Charmayne Kyles is the daughter of Dennis Ray Kyles Sr. and Machelle Shelby Kyles, born and raised in Bolton, MS. She has two siblings Dennis (DJ) Kyles. Jr. and Miyah Simmons. Destiny is a graduate of Clinton High School in Clinton, MS.

While attending Clinton High School, she was involved in many activities such as: the Dr. Jeanne L. Noble Delta GEMS Institute, Student Council, SADD, Junior Prom Princess, Senior Homecoming Maid, Beauty and Beau 2008 and 2009.

Destiny has always been active in her community. She has been involved with coordinating service activities, participating in various forms of civic engagement, a graduate of Youth Leadership Jackson 2008, serving on the Board of Governors for the Youth Leadership Jackson Class of 2009. Destiny is a former member of Holy Ghost Baptist Church in Clinton, MS, where she attributes most of her church development. Her participation included dancing on the praise team and fund memories of being the Sunday School Announcer; she presently fellowships with Asbury United Methodist, in Bolton, MS.

After graduation from high school, Destiny received a scholarship from the esteemed Tougaloo College, and immediately fell in love with her beloved eagle queen. During her freshmen year, her peers voted her Miss Freshmen, where she served unselfishly. Throughout her matriculation at Tougaloo College, Destiny has stayed involved in organizations, such as TAMS ( Tougaloo Ambassador of Meritorious Scholars), Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society, Pre- Alumni Council, Student Government Association, and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated.

Most recently, she had the honor of escorting the graduating class of 2012 as Junior Class Marshall of the Social Science Division, having earned the highest GPA in the Division. Her major is Political Science. Destiny's future plans are to continue working for the Department of Justice as a Diversion Investigator and attend graduate school.

Destiny credits all of her success to the Lord above for giving her the desires of her heart. One of her favorite scriptures is Proverbs 3:5-6, " Trust in the Lord with all thy heart, Lean not unto thy own understanding, in all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths "(KJV) - with this scripture in her heart; leading to a personal transformation, her faith ever abounds. In her spare time, Destiny loves to travel and spend time with her family. Her major goal, during her tenure as Miss Tougaloo is to help educate her fellow Tougaloo peers in the area of financial literacy.
