Learn Another Language at Tougaloo

Students come to college looking for classes that will help them build successful and interesting careers. Others want to grow intellectually, to change the world, or to change themselves. Language and culture study will help you meet all those needs.

General Education Requirement

The General Education program at Tougaloo is designed to develop important skills and the knowledge needed to prepare students for graduate and professional schools and for life and work in a global society. As a part of the General Education requirements, students have to take two semesters of the same modern language, beginning at the Intermediate level 201 & 202. Students who took a modern language in high school have an opportunity to test out of one or two elementary level language courses prior to enrolling on the intermediate level course. Arabic, Mandarin Chinese, French, Korean, Japanese, and Spanish courses will be offered.
