Biography
Dr. Arthur McLin, Jr. is a native of New Orleans, La. and attended the University of New Orleans obtaining a Bachelors and Masters Degree in Music Composition. Also, did post graduate work for a year at the International Conservatoire of Music in Paris, France, studying music composition with one of the leading twentieth century composers in Europe, Piort Moss.
Dr. McLin attended Arkansas State University obtaining a specialist degree in Music Education and also a specialist degree in Psychology and Counseling with emphasis on juvenile behavior and development. Also, received numerous awards for assisting adolescents, especially males, develop skills to experience success. Dr. McLin also received a doctorate in Educational Leadership and received the Eugene Smith Award for Educational Research. My area of research is emotional intelligence and developed an instrument called the Juvenile Emotion Management Scale (JEMS) that has demonstrated to have both validity and reliability in assessing the juvenile’s ability to manage their emotions, especially when emotionally aroused.
Dr. McLin taught at Arkansas State University in the Teacher Education Department for six years before coming to Tougaloo College where he is presently teaching in the Division of Education.
