Mr. and Miss Tougaloo: A Cinderella Story

The theme of this year’s coronation was the Cinderella Story, the night in which Mr. and Miss Tougaloo College was crowned.
Deandria Magee, 21, a senior biology major from Tylertown is Tougaloo’s 2007-2008 queen.
“It was overwhelming, but I’m thankful that it went well,” Magee said. “Now, I’m looking forward to living a regular life again and getting back to my schoolwork.”
Cornelius Beasley, 22, a senior sociology major from Collins, is Tougaloo’s king for 2007-2008.
“Coronation went well,” Beasley said. “I really enjoyed myself, especially the play part of it. For the rest of the year, I plan on continuing to do workshops for the freshmen males. On Oct. 30 I plan on holding a forum about the state of the black man, discussing where he’s been, where is now and where he’s going. OIT Still Upgrading Campus
Students and faculty at Tougaloo College will begin to see new changes this academic year. Tougaloo is now moving into the direction of combining learning with service which is a major goal for any college campus.
The Office of Information Technology has just launched the Student Academic Records System (STARS), an innovative online service that allows students to easily access their academic and financial records. Bulldogs are Ready for New Basketball Season
With a new season approaching, the Tougaloo College Bulldog basketball team is conditioning for another successful year.
The Bulldogs finished the season with a record of 18-11, a conference title, a national tournament berth, and player accolades for All Conference recipients Kevin McCoy and Darrius Simmons.
