Tougaloo Drops Two to Rust, Philander
Holly Springs, MS-In only the second game in the history of Tougaloo College, the Lady Bulldogs are starting to come together as a team, but still searching for a win as they dropped decisions to Rust College and Philander Smith today in Rust College Gymnasium.
In game one against Rust College, the Lady Bulldogs came out playing very hard as they stuck with Rust early in the game, but would find themselves in a deficit later on and would lose set one 25-12. In the second set, the Lady Bulldogs would continue to play with intensity. As a result, the Lady Bulldogs would take 7-6 lead over the Lady Bearcats, but the lead would not stay with the Lady Bulldogs as the Lady Bearcats would regain the lead and take set two 25-15. In set three, the Lady Bulldogs would struggle, but would try to keep up with the Lady Bearcats. The Lady Bulldogs went down early, but would bounce back, but it would not be enough as the Lady Bearcats would close out the the match winning set three 25-11.
In game two, however, the Lady Bulldogs would struggle bad against Philander Smith, as they would lose set one 25-10, set two 25-6, and set three 25-12. The losses leave the Lady Bulldogs with a record of 0-3 and still searching for a win. The Lady Bulldogs will be back in action on Saturday as they travel to New Orleans, LA to take on Xavier University and Mississippi Valley State University. First match is scheduled to begin at 1:00 P.M. against Xavier University followed by match two against MVSU at 3:00 P.M.
