The mission of the Office of External Relations is to generate effective and comprehensive communications to various constituents and the public concerning Tougaloo College’s accomplishments, event, and resources; to enhance the overall public image of Tougaloo College locally, regionally and nationally; and to develop and implement new communication vehicles that support the vision of and advance Tougaloo College.
Goals and Objectives
Goal 1. To improve and promote the image and reputation of Tougaloo College locally, regionally and nationally
Objective 1.1. The Office of External Relations will increase communication with constituents by 10% annually via publication distribution.
Strategy 1.1.1. Re-connect constituents with institution
Strategy 1.1.2. Increase mailing of publications (greater outreach)
Strategy 1.1.3. Develop special issues of Tougaloo College News to cultivate donations
Strategy 1.1.4. Publish monthly issues of The “T” to inform Campus constituents about activities and events at the College
Objective 1.2. The Office of External Relations will develop a targeted recruiting plan to increase enrollment.
Strategy 1.2.1. Establish a marketing theme for the College in terms of recruitment activities
Strategy 1.2.2. Design and produce new recruitment search piece, view book and degree program brochures by April 2006
Objective 1.3. The Office of External Relations will improve the local, state, regional and national recognition of and perception of Tougaloo College.
Strategy 1.3.1. Develop pro-active approach to media relations and name placement and recognition
Strategy 1.3.2. Revise press release format to include information about College on each release sent to media outlets
Strategy 1.3.3. Promote the Tougaloo Art Collection to increase local and regional support for the College.
Strategy 1.3.4. Produce President’s Annual Report for dissemination throughout tri-county area and other identified communities in Mississippi.
Strategy 1.3.5. Develop advertorial for publication in regional issue of US News andWorld Report each year
Strategy 1.3.6. Produce new stationary, note cards and other communications materials
