What is the Annual Fund and Why is it Important?
Since its inception, the Annual Fund has been making proud Tougaloo moments possible for deserving and talented young men and women, the majority of whom hail from the state of Mississippi. Over the years, thousands of loyal Tougalooians, parents, and friends have contributed to the Annual Fund, helping meet the College's ongoing need for flexible, unrestricted income to support our mission and strategic plans. As unrestricted gifts, these contributions are used by Tougaloo College on a daily basis where the needs and opportunities are greatest.
During 2005-2006, our Annual Fund donors provided over $4.3 million in vital
support that helped the College to:
- Attract and maintain talented faculty in each department.
- Continue its commitment to need- and merit-based financial aid to meet each
student's demonstrated need.
- Keep our residence halls comfortable and safe, and begin wiring all of these
facilities for access to the information superhighway.
- Outfit computer laboratories in Holmes and Galloway Halls.
- Renew subscriptions to scholarly journals, and keep our library up-to-date with
the information that our students need to support their educational experience.
- Keep the lights in the classroom glowing, the heat in residence halls pumping,
and meet many other essential needs that make the Tougaloo Experience possible.
