Six Day Epidemiology Course
July 7-11, 2008

Sponsored by The National Heart Lung and Blood Institute and the National Center for Minority Health and Health Disparities in Conjunction with the Jackson Heart Study

A collaboration of Jackson State University, Tougaloo College and the University of Mississippi Medical Center

You may be interested in knowing about a brief and unique training opportunity this summer for students, faculty and staff. The class will be an intensive introductory, six-day course in epidemiology offered at Tougaloo College, Tougaloo, Mississippi. The course is sponsored by the National Center on Minority Health and Health Disparities (NCMHD) and National Heart, Lung, & Blood Institute (NHLBI) in conjunction with the Jackson Heart Study.

Housing and meals will be provided on the Tougaloo College campus without charge in addition to travel reimbursement up to a maximum of $400.00. Participants, if they wish can get academic credit from one of the following institutions:

There will be no cost to those enrolled in the course not seeking academic credit. However, those desiring to receive academic credit will be assessed a tuition fee by the institution from which the applicant seeks the credit. Dr. Moyses Szklo, Professor of Epidemiology at Johns Hopkins School of Hygiene and Public Health, who is internationally recognized, as an experienced epidemiologist and excellent instructor, will teach the course.
