Starting January 2008
QUALIFICATIONS
- Students must be current fresh persons
- GPA of 3.0 overall (to keep the scholarship, must maintain a GPA of 3.0)
- ACT of 20 or higher
- Students may major in any field of their choice
- Must have an interest in pursuing a health career or related field and/or biomedical research.
REQUIREMENTS IF ACCEPTED
- Must take all JHSUTC sponsored courses: Introduction to Public Health and Epidemiology (Fall 2008), Biostatistics (Spring 2009), Research Methods in Public Health and Epidemiology (Fall 2008), and Ethics Medicine and Technology (Spring 2009 or Spring 2010)
- Work with high school students in the SLAM workshops and other UTC sponsored activities for 10 weeks during the first summer.
- During the summers of the post sophomore and junior years be involved in a practicum for eight to ten weeks.
- Attend seminars and other activities designated by the JHSUTC.
BENEFITS
- Learn about career opportunities in Public Health and other health related professions.
- Work under the mentorship of professionals.
- Stipend: $3150 during the academic year and $3150 during the summer. Sophomores and juniors will receive $4500 for 10 weeks, $4050 for weeks or 3600 for 8 weeks during the summers. Juniors and seniors will receive $3150 - $4500 (based on performance) during the academic year.
Deadline: October 29th, 2007. Start date January 15th, 2008.
