Division of Humanities


The disciplines encompassed by the Humanities Division, at the core of a liberal arts education, evolve from the basic human activities of seeing, hearing, speaking and thinking. These human activities, when translated into action, represent art, music, communications, literature, philosophy and ethics. Collectively, these disciplines attempt to make sense of the human experience and call for the creative production of structured forms in one medium or another. Within the Division, students are also offered study in the areas of effective speaking and writing, foreign languages and creative and dramatic production.The Division of Humanities offers the student concentrated courses of study in each of these disciplines, which prepare them for entry into graduate and professional schools and ultimately careers.
