A NOTE FROM THE WATAC CHAPTER

As you make your vacation plans, we invite you and request your presence during our 20th year of celebratory events for one of the Nation?s oldest historically black colleges, Tougaloo College. The Washington DC Area Tougaloo Alumni Chapter (WATAC) is raising funds in support of our illustrious institution during our largest annual fundraiser, Mississippi on the Potomac (MOTP) to raise dollars for our Tougaloo scholars. As noted, the MOTP weekend, July 20-22, 2012 marks our 20th year of fundraising. It includes a Golf Classic on Friday, July 20 at the Andrews Air Force Base; the Mississippi ?Down Home? Catfish Picnic on Saturday, July 21 at the Indian Head Naval Weapons Warfare Center; and a Jazz Brunch a the Austin Grill on Sunday, July 22 in northwest Washington, DC.

Mississippi On the Potomac XX

Join us this summer in support of Tougaloo College at the Twentieth Anniversary of Mississippi On the Potomac hosted by The Washington Area Alumni Chapter on July 20-22, 2012. The festivities begin with the 10th Annual Golf Classic on Friday, July 20th, continuing on Saturday with our Southern traditional catfish fry picnic and ending with the Sunday Jazzy Brunch.

Fast track your weekend to start on Wednesday, July 18, 2012 with a NEW YORK "road-trip" to see the production, "Memphis," winner of 4 Tony Awards and Best Musical. Additionally, we will dine for lunch at the BB King Blues Club and Grill. The cost of the trip is only $110 and it includes Roundtrip Motor Coach Transportation, a Theater Ticket, and Lunch at the BB King Blues Club and Grill. The reservation deadline is June 30, 2012. * July 20th, 10th Annual Golf Classic:
Golf Registration: http://watac.tcnaa.org/tournament/use/registration/form1.html. The courses at The Andrews Air Force Base are perfect for our 10th Annual Golf Classic. Putting contest at 1 pm; Shotgun start at 2 pm. After a competitive afternoon of golf, there will be an Awards Dinner to wind down and salute the "champions of the greens". For those who want to cheer the golfers on, you can also purchase the dinner meal without signing up for golf and have as much fun in the clubhouse playing cards and listening to the blues.

Buffet from 2 pm to 4 pm. Catfish straight from Mississippi! Music by the "Young Bucks" all afternoon crooning the best of the 60's thru the present. Have you heard of soup to nuts? Well this is hot dogs and catfish to watermelon and peach cobbler! Now that's a picnic!

Brunch starts at 11:30 am on Sunday. The southwest cuisine including catfish fajitas and grits will definitely bring your taste buds to life. And the soulful sounds of "Lori Williams and Friends" are just made to order for a lazy but lively Summer Sunday afternoon. Can't wait to see you at Mississippi On the Potomac!!
